Cartama Estacion and Coin
Most people enjoy a good stroll around a market and in Andalucia in Southern Spain there is no shortage of choice, the lively atmosphere, colour and wide variety of goods on sale always drawing a good crowd.
Two fine examples of inland markets can be enjoyed on a single outing on a Sunday, one outdoors, with stalls and tables sprawling through several streets in Cartama Estacion, and the other under cover, which can be a relief on very hot days, in the car park beneath La Trocha shopping precinct in Coin.
Cartama Estacion can be reached easily via good and well signposted roads from surrounding inland towns and also from Malaga and the rest of the Costa del Sol. The mountain backdrop to the town is very attractive, its far-away tranquillity belying the frantic bustle of the market itself, a steady shuffle of traffic flowing through the narrow streets like a swelling stream.
Shoes steal the show, long tables of them attracting constant and particular attention. With helpfulness from the stall owners rather than sales pressure, a little bit of browsing can be very relaxing. Sales pressure does exist though, more usually at the fruit and veg stalls, where one old man turns the pitch into a type of cabaret as he quarters an orange, for example, insisting that you taste for yourself how sweet it is. A bargain or two can leave you with a heavy bag to carry back to the car, although that is forgotten at home, after the first sip of wonderfully sweet, sun-ripened Andalucian orange juice.
The drive from Cartama Estacion to Coin is relatively uncomplicated, passing through the hillside pueblo of Cartama. The unmistakable La Trocha, a modern building resembling a huge bullring from distance, is on the outskirts of Coin. The stalls are more neatly arranged than at Cartama Estacion, although the variety of goods, from plants and clothes, to pickles, preserves and designer furniture ensures a similar, steady flow of visitors. What the Coin market may lack in street vitality compared to Cartama Estacion is more than compensated by the almost social atmosphere, with old friends gathering to chat and new ones always being made.
Whether a bargain is discovered or perhaps an item purchased despite its price, the day has all the makings of excellent value.

Le gusta la mayora de la gente un buen paseo por un mercado y en Andalucia no hay niguna falta de las elecciónes, la atmósfera animada, el color y la variedad amplia de los artículos siempre atrayendo una buena muchedumbre.
Dos ejemplos estupendos pueden disfrutarse en una excursión al domingo, uno al aire libre, con los puestos y la mesas extendidos por varias calles en Cártama Estación y otro cubierto, lo que puede ser un alivio durante días muchos calores, en el aparcamiento bajo La Trocha en Coín.
Cártama Estación puede encontrarse fácilmente por carreteras buenas de los pueblos interiores y también de Málaga y el resto de la Costa del Sol. Las montañas cercano son maravillosas, se pareciendo tranquilas mientras el mercado si mismo esta muy concorrido. Siempre se encuentra mucha gente arrastrandose los pies por los puestos.
Zapatos roban la atención, mesas largas cubiertas de ellos, atrayendo mucho interés. Los venedores son muy amables y no hay ninguna presión de comprar y por lo tanto la experiencia sea muy relajante.
Si, por supuesto la presión de comprar existe, pero usualmente a los puestos de la frutas, donde un hombre corte una naranja, por ejemplo, y insiste que se pruebas la dulzura. Una ganga o do pueden hace un bolso muy pesado para llevar al coche, pero se olvidó en casa en cuenta que tomes un sorbo del zumo de naranja Andaluz.
El paseo de Cártama Estación a Coín es realitivamente sin complicaciones, paseando por el pueblo Cártama. Los puestos se arreglan con esmero, especialmente comparados con los de la Cártama Estación, pero como el primer mercado, la variedad de las cosas, de las plantas y la ropa a los escabeches, las confituras y los muebles diseñados atraen un flujo constantamente de la gente. Lo que el mercado carece de la energía de la calle se compensa completamente con la amósfera social, con los amigos viejos hablando y los amigos nuevos haciendose.
O una ganga se descubierte o quizas un artículo se compra a pesar del precio, el día tiene todo lo que necesita del valor excelente.
