Kent Harrison had been invited for an interview with Brenda
Padilla of the OCI Radio in Marbella this summer and we thoroughly
enjoyed hearing it. Kent had just completed two enormous abstract
paintings which we had seen hanging on a wall in his studio
and we knew that he was very busy with other work at the time.
The interview was brilliant, an excellent rapport between
Brenda and Kent leading to a fascinating conversation, during
which Kent mentioned that he had produced a set of six line
drawings set in Alora.
“I suppose you could say that they are like photographs
in a way,” he explained, “a little bit of history.”
“Quite right,” Brenda enthused, having seen some
of the prints he had taken to show her, particularly one of
the Castillo Arabe (the Arab Castle), which in Brenda’s
words is one of the most dramatic sights in the whole of the
Malaga province.
Before we even had a chance to see them, most of the drawings
had already been sold, but Kent said that the whole set had
been photographed and recorded on disk.
“I’d like to put some of your latest work on our
website,” I explained.
“Well,” he said with a grin, “actually I’ve
already started a new project.”
No stopping the man!
“I went into Malaga yesterday,” he continued,
“and I bought the biggest canvas I have ever had and
I’m going to carry on with the abstract theme.”
That painting has since been featured on our home page and
can now be seen in our feature Chat About Art with Kent Harrison.
We hope you enjoy these shots of Kent’s line drawings,
most certainly an historical record and also my favourite
examples to date of his work, although I know how passionately
he is involved with the abstract.

invitado el artista Kent Harrison para una entrevista con
Brenda Padilla de la radio de OCI en Marbella este verano
y gozamos a fondo el oír de él. Kent acababa
de terminar dos pinturas abstractas enormes que habíamos
visto que colgando en una pared en su estudio y nosotros sabía
que él estaba muy ocupado con el otro trabajo en ese
entonces. La entrevista era brillante, una simpatía
excelente entre Brenda y Kent que conducía a una conversación
fascinadora, durante la cual Kent mencionó que él
había producido un sistema seises de la línea
dibujos fijados en Alora.
"Supongo que podrías decirlo que son como las
fotografías de una manera," explicó, "un
poco de historia."
"Absolutamente a la derecha," Brenda dijo, viendo
algunas de las impresiones que él había tomado
para demostrarla, particularmente una del Castillo Arabe que
en las palabras de Brenda es una de las vistas más
dramáticas en la provincia de Málaga.
Antes de que tuviéramos una ocasión de verlos,
la mayoría de los dibujos habían sido vendidos
ya, pero Kent dijo que todos habían sido fotografiado
y registrado en disco.
"Quisiera poner algo de su trabajo más último
en nuestro sitio web," yo expliqué.
"Bien," él dijo con una mueca, "he comenzado
realmente ya un nuevo proyecto."
¡Ningún parar al hombre!
"Fue a Málaga ayer," él continuó,
"y compré la lona más grande que he tenido
siempre y voy a continuar con el tema abstracto."
