had the distinct feeling that I was being watched, even though
there was nobody else there. The eyes on some of the portraits
seemed to follow me around the room. I had been very impressed
with last year’s annual art competition in Alora, but
this year’s offering was even better, with entries coming
from all over Spain.
Here are a few of the paintings on display
in the XIX Certamen de Pintura “Ciudad de Alora, held
in the Casa de la Cultura during the last two weeks of January
and the first two weeks of February 2008, continuing Alora’s
growing reputation as a major cultural centre in the inland
part of Andalucia.

Tuve la sensación
que alguien estaba mirándome, aunque no había
nadie allí. Los ojos en los retratos parecían
seguirme alrededor de la sala. He había estado por
la calidad en el certamen el año pasado, pero la ofrenda
esta año estaba aún mejor, con entradas desde
todas las partes de España.

últimas dos semanas de enero y las primeras dos semanas
de febrero, aumentando la reputación crecienda de Álora
como un centro de cultura muy importante en la parte interior
